I'm like a bird

I've been really lusting after the bird print dresses the gorgeous Louise has recently purchased, but I've imposed a bit of a spending ban this month (4 more pay days til i get married so I really should be saving!)

I had a bit of a rifle through my wardrobe when I remembered I had this little Matalan number. I rarely wear it as it has one arm which is really tight, or maybe I've just got one really fat arm. Anyway, I digress, I decided to pop it on today and it satisfied my bird craving for now.

Everything about this outfit is ancient, but since I'm trying not to spend, thats a good thing, right?

Doughnut head

I'm not one for wearing my hair up, mainly because it usually looks like a 3 year old has done it, but on Friday night after a trip to the gym, I didn't have enough time to wash my hair (gross, I know) and this was the result.

I've had the hair doughnut for an age but not really mastered it, so I was pleasantly surprised with how this turned out. My hair is really fine so this is a good way of making it look much fuller. This might make an appearance more often.

Excuse the demented look.....

A pretty simple outfit for dinner out with the boy. I think this top makes my boobs look enormous, but I'm not complaining.

Slouchy

So, apologies for these dodgy pictures (well even more dodgy than usual) but the light seems all wrong. Anyway, I digress... I love this jumper. It's so comfy to wear, looks pretty good, can be dressed up or down and shows a little bit of cleavage - what's not to like?

Another purchase from Simply Be with the 50% off code so it was a bargain too. I've added a bit of red to try and cheer up a miserable day. I expect I will wear this a lot in coming weeks.

Malfunctioning wardrobe & Polka Dots

I've been lusting after this shirt for a while on the Simply Be website, so when I heard about the 50% off code (thanks Kaye) I snapped it up.

Once again, I sized up to fit my hips and thighs, which means it's a bit baggy around the waist and chest, but I still love the print so it's staying given it was half price.

I've paired it with my purple jersey trousers from ASOS which are an absolute bloody nightmare. They won't stay up, have no belt loops and so I am now currently trying to protect my modesty with 2 bulldog clips. Shame I didn't realise this before I left the house. My backside is bound to make an appearance soon.

Edit

Ok - so the bulldog clips failed me. I had to make an emergency purchase - and I much prefer these purple numbers. The aforementioned trousers are now in the bin. Thank God for New Look.

A catch up

This is a bit of a catch up as I've been away all weekend. I meant to take photos of what I wore whilst up in Liverpool, but this is as far as we got. Too much alcohol caused some memory loss I fear. Nothing really new or exciting here - apart from my new spotty shoes. You have to love a polka dot, no?

We were out all day, wandering Liverpool, but I knew the plan was to stay out and have a few beverages and some food, so I didn't want to look like too much of a tramp.

In other news, I am still trying to wear my new favourite trousers from ASOS. Instead of grey I've tried Coral and Red & White. I think the last is my favourite, maybe?

Listen to your heart

Another of my Clements Ribeiro purchases from Evans and another that I wasn't completely sure about. I've seen it on a couple of other bloggers and they looked amazing, but with my shape i.e. huge bum and thighs, I always need to size up in tunics, which means the overall fit is not that great. So this is the size 20 and it's pretty large on me, but the smaller size would have bunched up around the waist and not been such a good look.

I am feeling like death warmed up today thanks to zero sleep - so I thought I'd wear my bright red jeans to detract from the massive eye bags.

Black Lace

I bought this lace dress from ASOS at Christmas. I loved it on the website, just wasn't sure I loved it as much in the flesh. My initial idea was to wear it for Christmas parties with a pair of heels (I don't really do heels, but that was the plan).

Anyway, I deliberated over sending it back for so long, I left it too late and it's pretty much sat unloved in my wardrobe ever since. I tried it on again this morning and I am not sure why I ignored it for so long. I actually quite like it. The mock wrap front is very flattering (though I do need a vest), it's a good length and pretty comfy to wear. I wasn't sure it was really a 'work' dress, but actually I am pushing my boundaries a bit of late and thought what the heck. The shoes I love, but I'm being ugly sister like and wedging my feet in a size too small. They only get worn when it's raining as most of my other ballet flats let in water!

I'm obsessed with lace. I need more of it in my life.

Shades of grey

I love these trousers, I just don't love that I don't really know what to wear them with. This outfit is all a bit grey really. The trousers are navy and I really fancied them with a brightly coloured top - maybe in a coral colour. However, I don't own such a thing. The trousers are a great fit - they have a bit of stretch in them so despite going a smaller size than usual from ASOS, they don't feel too tight at all.

What would you wear with navy? Red perhaps? Or could I go for a clashing colour like green? Watch this space, the next time I wear these trousers, it will be less dull.

And he painted matchstick men and matchstick cats and dogs

I've been wanting to wear these Swan @ Evans trousers for a while, but wasn't really sure what to team them with. I think these are a little big around the waist on me, I'm in danger of resembling Simon Cowell, but given my lardy thighs, I think a smaller size would have been a bit legging-esque so I've stuck with them.

These trousers are amazingly comfy, like pyjamas. What better thing to wear for a large lunch with friends (think a lot of red wine)?

I originally though I'd wear black with them, but given the red in the trousers, I thought this vest might be a bit more cheerful.

I know my eyes are shut but it's a rare outdoor photo. Forgive me. My fiancé needs to sort out his photography skills.

I've no idea why I feel the need to stand with my hands on my hips constantly. I'd never make a model.

Dress down Friday

I'm feeling fairly bling today. Not intentional, but it's always nice to add a bit of sparkle into your life, especially on a Friday. My office is pretty relaxed about what we can wear, but on Friday's, pretty much everyone dresses down so the converse or Toms usually get an outing.

This cardigan was an emergency purchase when I came into work one day and ripped my jumper in the car door, thus revealing my hefty chest in all of it's glory - work might frown on that I fear. It doesn't fit me overly well, but I've never let that stop me as I rarely fasten a cardigan. Plus it makes a nice change from my usual black.

Oh sparkly

True blue

These photos are particularly rubbish today, you can't really tell what a lovely blue this dress is because the light is all wrong. I've tried to lighten them up a bit, but they still don't look amazing. In fact I look like a ghost.

This high low or dipped hem dress is very comfy to wear and uber cheap. I saw it in  the window of Store 21 and was pleasantly surprised at the £14.99 price tag - plus it comes with a belt. Bargain. I originally bought it as a holiday dress, but it kinda works with leggings too. I've been eyeing up a few dipped hem dresses on ASOS  & Simpy Be but this is a good alternative if you aren't too sure.

I'd planned to wear this with a really bright cardigan, but my red one is currently moth eaten and needs to be replaced, so white it is. This one was another Dorothy Perkins 30% off purchase.

Was thinking I'd need to buy some brown shoes - totally forgot about these puppies.

This more gives an idea of the colour.

Tell it to my heart

I'll be honest, I am not totally loving today's outfit. It just doesn't feel anything overly special. This is the cardigan from the Swan collection at Evans. I loved it when I saw it on the website, just not overly sure I love it on me. I don't think it's right for my body shape, but I decided to keep it and see if I can fall in love (you'd think I had money to burn). Is it worth £40? Well it's a nice enough cardigan, but I am pretty sure I could get something of a similar ilk in Dorothy Perkins or Primark. Maybe if I was wearing it with other clothes it'd be more of a favourite, but like this, well I just don't know.

I definitely don't like it fastened like this....
