Shopaholic does Liverpool

Must stop spending money....

I have this ridiculous need to buy a new outfit every time I go out or away for a weekend. Given I spend approximately 52 weekends a year either out or away, that's a lot of spending. My wardrobe and drawers are groaning under the strain. No more spending (she says having just bought 2 pairs of trousers and 3 pairs of shoes today!).

This top was ridiculously expensive, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. I added it to my bag several times and decided it was too much, but in the end, I lost the battle and bought it for a weekend away to visit one of my bestie's in Liverpool.

I love Liverpool, but I always feel so ridiculously under dressed when I go out there (hence I can justify buying this top). The women are all so glamorous and look amazing and since I pretty much live in my jeans, well it's a struggle. Plus the hair - how do they get that amazing curly blow dry thing going on? This is as close as I get to it...

The top is by Carmakoma from ASOS and comes with a camisole for modesty (I don't do modesty). The sleeves are a really good length, plus the top covers the top of my jeans which stops my revealing my builders bum whenever I sit down. It also has a lovely pearl detail on the chest area which seems to draw the eye to my boobs, but I can live with that. I'll be wearing this a lot since it is probably one of the most expensive tops I've ever bought. (I had better anyway)

Excuse the dodgy pub toilet shots. I totally forgot to get my hubby to snap some photos before we went out and by the time I got home - well I was not photo worthy :)

Dress down Friday

I'm pretty fortunate in that there isn't really a dress code where I work, I can wear jeans every day, but Friday seems to be the day everyone goes casual so I tend to be even more slobby than usual.

I've been eyeing up Nike Blazers for a while, but I'm 37 years of age and convinced myself I would look ridiculous. I probably do, but since they were reduced and in my favourite colour, well I bought them anyway and the world has not ended, so I think we're good.

This outfit is nothing special, but it's pretty typical of my dress down days. And if you like something but think it's not for you, do it anyway, you might be surprised.

Magnificent 7th - New Year

Magnificent 7th header

Happy New Year y'all. I've been away for Christmas and New Year, back to work yesterday with a horrible bang (62,000 emails in my inbox, I kid you not) and then a 3 hour journey to work today (12 miles) thanks to flooding. Anyway... I'm trying to be more positive this year so I won't overly moan!

I am going to attempt to continue with this challenge this year since it's about the only time I blog anything. This month's theme is 'New Year'.

We spent New Years Eve in Inverness at a lovely hotel called Rocpool. We had dinner in the restaurant and a few drinks followed by fireworks, All quite sedate really, but very lovely all the same. We've spent the last few years at home with friends so it was quite nice to go out, but only have a 10 second wander back to our bed.

This was pretty much the only time I dressed up over the holiday, it was far too cold to be concerning myself with fancy clothing. Scotland in the winter is lovely, but blooming frozen.

Nothing is new from this outfit, but this dress is very much a firm favourite. It's by Lovedrobe from ebay some months ago and it's my go to dress whenever I want to make an effort.
